Isn't it amazing that we've already reached the halfway point of the semester? It seems like we were just going through the syllabus the other day. I've learnt a lot about visual images and the many other areas that revolve around visuals.
When I first thought about visual imagery in this class, I solely considered what I could see with my eyes. I was under the impression that it was only photographs or videos. However, it goes much farther in depth, as we can see from the modules we've covered in class. The issue of typography, for example, was surprising since I rarely put my views into words. I've learnt that words improve photographs and movies not just because of the words themselves and the meaning behind them, but also because of the size, font, color, and other factors.
Another thing that stood out to me was when we went through the unit with a focus on photography. At first sight, a photograph caught in time speaks volumes beyond our comprehension. Photographs were taken long before films in order to capture a memorable occasion, whether it's a personal experience or a historical event. This lesson has aided in the development of my visual imagery comprehension, and I am looking forward to learning much more.
Tofu, I'm glad to see someone agree with me that the typography lesson was really interesting and eye-opening! It really goes to show that learning about Visual Communication can apply to so many different parts of life, and having the skill to notice those visual skills can help us appreciate visual artistry and symbolism so much more. - Tucker D.
Well written reflection! The thing about reflecting back onto a course or a semester is that you get a realization of how much you have learned compared to what you didn't know before, and it just makes you more thrilled to continue learning, especially in this class. Keep It up!
You summed up the semester basically. I came into this class not really expecting much, just do the work and get the credit. But I ended up learning so much more, from how we use our eyes as instructions for navigation and how disabled people have their own way. Good luck with the rest of the semester!
Hi Tofura,
You literally said everything I learned this semester. Taking this class, I don't know what I was expecting because I did not know what "Visuals communication" meant. Throughout the semester it wasn't just about looking and pictures but so much more. We looked at historic pictures and really went in depth about what they mean and what was happening during those times.
